Hi Jason, yes the site is fairly new and continues to develop a steady increase in membership! Your region-based suggestion is something we had envisioned for the site when we first developed it. Early on we had assumed the members would initiate these connections and contacts on their own by implementing the features available to them through the site... pages, events, groups, classifieds, etc. I've had the same conversation with a couple of others as well and I've seen many members sign up and post searching for other musicians in their area. I think I might create an initial group for each state and then see if that gives members the idea and incentive to join those groups and then take it over from there by creating their own groups or pages based on their regions, cities, towns, etc. With over 4000 members there's bound to be several members in each state by now. What do you think about that idea?
I like that idea a lot. I'm older, so I'm used to perusing the the local counterculture mags (the Village Voice, the Aquarian) and Craiglist. Nowadays I don't have ready access to the mags ( a chore in itself) and Craigslist, well........
I'm having a little trouble getting used to the site, but that's probably just growing pains. Thanks for your prompt response and I hope this works out well.
I'm not really sure what the point of this site is? How many people contact other musicians randomly on the internet? I've been in the music business for a long time - at least Craigslist is oriented towards local areas. If you post a bunch of stuff on a site like this it just ends up in cyberspace infinity.

I "THINK" the idea is sort of like a Facebook for musicians. Of course Facebook already has groups and communities but, I guess this site keeps it all in one place where as with Facebook you may have to search around more.
There are also those that just don;t know anyone that plays an instrument and this gives you a way to connect with them (but, so does Facebook).
Regardless of this site or any other, often a problem is that people are not necessarilly in the same general area.
I have tried Craig's List to find people to jam with just for fun and I am upfront about the area I am in and the fact that I do not drive yet I would get replies from people that were not exactly local to me.
This shows that there IS a need for people to connect with others randomly. for whatever reasons.
Though, in my opinion, Craig's List is pretty useless as people tend not to actually read the ads. Whether you are trying to find people to jam with or sell something you get replies from people asking questions you give the answers to in your ad.
I am glad to read the information you shared on this page about. james
