6 string Bass in the shop. Using four string backup bass.

  • Some how I broke the mid range push/pull control switch pot on my Ibanez GVB-36 6 string bass. The Guitar Infirmary in Auburn, IN is addressing this issue, a fret leveling issue and a bad barrel connector issue. Connector and fret leveling tasks are done. Just need to wait on the push/pull pot which has an odd value of 25K instead of the common 250k or 500k. So, I used my Ibanez SR 1200 Premium bass this weekend. It felt like a broom handle to my fretting hand in the absence of a low B and high C string. But, it did the job and got me through two music sets. A few more days and I shall have my workhouse 6 string bass back, repaired, adjusted, fret leveled and set up with the low action and ultra light gauge strings I like. Can't wait. Note to self: Look into backup 6 string bass. An Ibanez GVB-1006 would be nice. Another GVB-36 would work but one can dream of an Ibanez GVB 1006!

Charles George Looks like an awesome bass. I have a 5-string acoustic/electric Ibanez Bass-Guitar. Though spend more time with my Soprano Recordrr than the bass-guutar or guitar.

Milton Chavez I would like to have the updated model to this bass but Ibanez does not make the GVB-1006 anymore.

Milton Chavez The bass in the photograph is my four string Ibanez back up bass SR-1200 Premium. The bass that is in the shop is my six string Ibanez GVB-36 which I get back on the 1th of June. Can't wait to see how it feels now that the frets have been leveled.
